About Our Candles

Our candles are hand-poured in North Carolina where we are based. We use 100% soy wax that was made from soy plants grown in the US and ground less than a year ago, so it’s fresh! We use high quality cotton wicks without lead or zinc to ensure a clean and consistent burn. Our fragrance oils are phthalate-free. Our candles do not contain lead, plastic, paraben, phthalate or synthetic dyes. Our ingredients are cruelty-free, non-toxic and ethically made, so you can feel good about burning our candles.

If burned properly, our 10 oz candles have a burn time of 50-80 hours and the 3.5 oz tins will burn for 15-30 hours. See the "Candle Tips & Tricks" section below for tips on how to burn your candle properly.

Our travel candles make a great sample! The 3.5 oz candles come in a sleek black tin and travel well. We also include a small wax melt sample of a fragrance we think you will love with each order. These small samples can be used with a wax melter or kept in their small bag as a drawer or car freshener!

We do not mix any dyes in with our wax to bring you the cleanest candle possible. However, some of our fragrance oils have a natural tint to them so you may see a yellow or brown tint to the wax. This will not impact the scent or quality of the burn.

Candle Tips & Tricks

When choosing your candle size, consider the size of the room in which you plan to burn the candle. Our travel size candles are great for small rooms like bathrooms. Our traditional candles are better for larger rooms like bedrooms, living rooms and kitchens. Have an open floor plan and can never quite get the aroma of your candle to fill the space? Try our deconstructed scent method and place a different scented, but well paired candle in each space. You will have a wonderful experience of enjoying the different aromas in each space and they will collide beautifully in the middle, filling your open space with the warm and inviting aromas of Ashe Candle.

Wax has a memory, so be sure to let it burn until the wax melts all the way to the edges, especially the first time you burn your candle. This will prevent what we candlemakers call “tunneling”. It will help you get the maximum amount of burn time for your candle.

Keep your wick trimmed to ¼” to prevent that unsightly black smoke and flickering. If you see that your wick looks like a mushroom, be sure to trim before lighting again.

When extinguishing a candle, use a candle snuffer or a wick dipper. These handy tools allow you to push the wick down into the melted wax, which coats the wick and immediately snuffs it without that unwanted smoke. It will prevent the smell of blowing out the candle from taking over the wonderful aroma you’ve created with your Ashe Candle. Please do not use the lid to extinguish the flame. The smoke can mix in with the melted wax and change the aroma of your candle.

All of our candles are made with 100% soy wax which is a natural product. You can feel good about burning our candles because the natural product gives you a clean burning candle that is also safe and environmentally friendly. This does mean that after burning, your candle may have some pitting on the surface. This does not impact the quality of the candle in any way. As the wax cooled, there may have been air pockets or it cooled at uneven temperatures (drafts). Just know that it is a sign of a clean product!

Candle Safety

Never leave a candle burning unattended.

Do not burn for more than 4 hours at a time.

Keep your wick trimmed to ¼”.

If burning more than one candle at a time, be sure to space them apart at least 3” to prevent drafts and heat from one candle melting another.

Discontinue use once 1/4 “ of wax remains.
